THE responsibility for a smooth-running wedding is shared between the couple and the professionals they choose, says Thirroul photographer Anna Blackman.
She was responding to an article in last month's Wedding Directory on guests' dissatisfaction over the growing time gap between wedding and reception."It is very much the responsibility of the bride and her photographer to come up with a plan that will take everyone into consideration," Ms Blackman said. She said times had changed and couples now liked to go to a couple of different locations for photos."On average, I suggest one and a half hours, plus travel," Ms Blackman said."Many brides hire a bus to take their guests somewhere for a rest and a drink before the reception. It is all in the planning."As a photographer, my job is to figure out the timing that will get the bride what she wants without making the guests unhappy, and to always arrive at the reception on time."I've heard of the horror stories of brides taking four or five hours to turn up at the reception, but it certainly isn't the norm."Hire professionals, get good advice, and in the end if the worst happens, remember that it is the bride's day and she invited you because you are a special friend and trusts you to be understanding"- MICHELE TYDD
