Memories Are Made Of Photos

David Landau began his career in wedding photography almost by accident.

A keen photographer, Landau's talents were discovered by a local photo-lab owner who suggested Landau try photographing birthday parties and other special events.

He quickly graduated to wedding photography.

Since then he has photographed hundreds of weddings in all kinds of locations and he has never tired of photographing couples on their special day.

"I love being able to provide something special and lasting for the bride and groom, and their families," Landau said.

Landau offers three set-priced packages, with no hidden costs, and is also willing to tailor a package depending on the requests of the bride and groom.

"I once did a wedding where I took photographs of the bride having her last dinner with her mum and dad as a single woman, right through the wedding the next day, and right down to the recovery breakfast the day after the wedding," he said.

But not all couples opt for such an abundance of photos, although there is a trend towards more informal weddings, reflected in the kinds of photos Landau is asked to take.

"People like a more relaxed feel these days and prefer more candid shots rather than stilted posed shots," he said.

"I do usually suggest to the couple to do some of the more traditional shots to keep their mums and grandmothers happy.

"I encourage the bride and groom to clip photos that they like from magazines, so I can get a feel for what they want."

Landau also spends time with the bride and groom before the wedding, getting to know the couple.

"I like to be considered a friend to the couple. You tend to get better photographs by spending time talking and getting to know one another rather than just turning up cold on the day," he said.

He presents a leather-bound album of wedding proofs to the couple to keep, when they return from their honeymoon. They can order enlargements or extra copies.

Landau can also professionally mount and frame photographs.
